Ever wanted to do SSL from within squeak?
How about decrypting a PGP encrypted email?
There's an OpenSSL plugin you can use, but that only works on platforms that have OpenSSL. What if you wanted to use it on a WinCE platform? or your new custom hardware?
The goal of the msh-crypto is to provide high-performance, easy to grok, and well documented crypto primitives for Squeak and Spoon. That way you'll have a SSL (or PKCS#7/CMS or PGP) solution ready to go as soon as you port the base VM to a new platform.
