DPON is a distributed object framework. Distributed objects can be replicated across many hosts to achieve any combination of accessability, speed (by having local replicas), security (by having replicas only on trusted hosts), fault tolerance (by spreading replicas over multiple computers) and/or multi-user access to objects. The end goal is to create a desktop environment where all objects on the desktop can be shared with any other desktop on the Internet.
