Personal info for hylander

This person is currently certified at Master level.

Name: Jon Hylands

Homepage: www.huv.com/smalltalk

Notes: I am working on a Squeak system to control an autonomous underwater vehicle (a robot submarine) that I designed and built. MicroSeeker runs Squeak on a Dell Axim PDA, and does all hardware interfacing with PIC microcontrollers. I've been working in Smalltalk since 1987, and Squeak since version 1.23 or so (sometime back in 1997). I wrote (as part of my AUV project) a Smalltalk compiler that translates psuedo-Smalltalk code to PIC assembler (PIC/Smalltalk).

I've started on a new Squeak-based project in the last few months, and things are coming along well.

I'm building a biped robot using a Bioloid kit, in the form of a small velociraptor robot. I have a blog where I regularily post progress reports, and a project page on a community wiki that I set up.

The brain of this robot runs in Squeak on my laptop, and I have big plans for it. Read the blog/project page for more details...
