Personal info for dvf
This person is currently certified at Master level.Name: Daniel Vainsencher
Notes: Squeaker for a few years, mostly active in things that help Squeak be more friendly for developers as a community. This was the main thing I was concerned with as a Squeak Guide between 11.2002 and 11.2003.
Did some of the RB port to Squeak, and maintained it since 2000 till 2003.
Wrote MudPie, which is a (beta) tool for finding and then testing for cyclic dependencies, which are one of the technical reasons it is non-trivial to de-monolithisize Squeak.
Contributed MIME integration and scalability improvements to Celeste, the in-squeak mail client.
Proposed the initial requirements for the BFAV, and some patches along the way.
Helped SM get adopted in various ways, including making the simplified SM Package Loader. More recently, have been a part of the elections team for Squeak Foundations board.

Most people I talked to in the Technion that know anything about Smalltalk learned it from the OOP class. Most are somewhere between unimpressed and bruised about it. They learn it from a few exercises, done using A Little Smalltalk. Blech. Pretty depressing state of affairs.
I have a friend here that persistently sends me email in hebrew. Need to have hebrew in Celeste. So much to do, so little time... and Calculus takes precendence.
Its nice to see a bit from the side how interesting things keep happening in Squeak land. Today I got a link to http://csdl.computer.org/comp/proceedings/c5/2003/1975/00/1975toc.htm, which reminded me just how much is going on in Squeak-land that I at least am not aware of. Causes me to think that as strong as the community is in terms of aggregated creative work, there's still lots of room for improving communications between the parts of the community...So I think this site is a very welcome addition.
