Name: Ken Causey

Notes:

Still something of a newbie in many ways.

I did a little work some time ago to integrate Jacaranda into the Star Browser which is included in the Jacaranda package now.

I've done some development with Seaside including a scheduling system that was rather narrowly designed for a specific project.

Most recently I've been working with bkv (Brent Vukmer) on preparing for BFAV2. I put together a system using exim, apache, and python for receiving mailing list posts, filtering out posts that should be available through BFAV2, and storing the posts in a fashion that is efficient for BFAV2 to retrieve.

You can often find me on the #squeak channel on irc.freenode.net (http://freenode.net/) as kencausey. Every once in a while I will have a useful response.

Updates for 2005:

In February of 2005 I proposed a group to do some of the less skilled annoying work associated with bug handling and harvesting. This resulted in the Janitors Team and I became the first team leader.

Also in February of 2005 Cees de Groot asked me to become the team leader for the Box Admins Team and I accepted.

Furthermore in September of 2005 I was asked to join the Coordinators and I accepted. In early October this group merged with the SqueakFoundation core members to form the SqueakFoundation Board. I am honored to be a member of this group.

Updates for 2006:

In February of 2006 I decided that the Janitors team had completed all useful work and that there was no reason for the team's continued existence, so I dissolved the team.

Also in February the first elections were held for the SqueakFoundation Board and I was not re-elected. Instead the electorate chose to replace many of the board members with newcomers. I agree with this decision and also tended to vote for new members and ranked myself the lowest. My interest in discussing Squeak has lagged somewhat and I'm ready to turn my attention to other things.

At this time I continue to lead the Box-Admins team and hope to be a more active member of the I/O Stewards team.

I mentioned something about an Announcements list, created it, then forgot to say anything further about it. Well, better late than never.

If you have any announcements related to Squeak please send them to announcements@lists.squeakfoundation.org.

And if you have even the vaguest of interest in Squeak you will want to signup at

http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/announcements.

This list is moderated and traffic should be very light.

Torsten Bergmann posted a notice about the News mailing list on http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/ and I just wanted to clarify that this is a list for use by the News Team which will handle producing the Weekly Squeak for internal discussion and not a general 'news' list.

However there will probably be a new mailing list for announcements in the near future, more soon...

Avi Bryant recently spoke to the Vancouver Lisp User's Group about Seaside. The presentation was recorded and I've setup a torrent for the video at http://www.squeak.org/~kencausey/lv200508/seaside.mov.torrent.

I applaud bkv (Brent Vukmer) for soldiering on with my aborted attempt at adding tabs to the BFAV2 interface. The more I worked on it the more I got frustrated with the current use of email as the reporting mechanism. I've turned my attention to playing with the concept of a new bug tracking system based on an OODB. I'm getting started much more slowly than I had hoped. avi has kindly been helping me with GOODS client and the GOODS server itself. I'm currently working on a spike and got a bit tangled in trying to massage data from the current BFAV repository for testing purposes. I hope I will be able to make some real progress this week.

To return the serve:

Brent is working on improving the Comments Note Pad in a major way:

If you ask him nicely he might even let you take it for a ride.

This work is likely to see the light of day soon, much sooner than my work with a tab interface.
