Identify Yourself
Posted 1 Nov 2006 by KenCauseyIt's gratifying to have so many people signing up on this site but with nicknames, partial names, and little or no information about yourself how do you expect the rest of us to evaluate your contribution to the Squeak community and decide on a reasonable certification for you?
Have you looked at your personal profile lately?
See that link for 'Login/Account' at the bottom of this page? Open that up in a seperate tab or window (don't replace this one, you need to keep reading).
What's in the First Name and Last Name blanks? Is it the name you commonly use on the community mailing lists and other forums? If not, why not?
If you have a web page did you put the full complete URL in the Homepage field? If you have a blog then stick in the URL for that. This is one good way we can remind ourselves of who you are and what you mean to the Squeak community. If you don't have a personal page then it's a little confusing if you put some random company page in there without further explanation.
Finally do you have any Notes? Please consider trumping your own horn. Sometimes we forget names and don't remember all you have contributed. This is not the time to be humble.
Also consider visiting the Projects list and clicking on any with which you are familiar and indicating your relationship to the project, even if you are simply a happy user. Do you have a project which is not listed? At the bottom of the page is a link to Create a new listing. Any projects you create or relationships you specify show up on your personal page and contribute to our knowledge about you and aid in deciding what certification we think is appropriate for you.
If you haven't even signed up yet then you should do so if you consider yourself a part of the Squeak community. And consider using something related to your name as your username and not some nickname which the rest of us won't recognize.
Fallen off the recent list?, posted 6 Nov 2006 by KenCausey
One more note. If you update your information but find you have fallen off the the recent account list you can bring your account back to the front page by entering a quick diary entry. Try to make it relevant.I agree, posted 8 Nov 2006 by GermanArduino
I agree with your comments Ken. Myself frequently forget to revise the things here, but being part of community is a responsability that each one of us must meet. Not Just for Newbies, posted 8 Nov 2006 by KenCausey
Thanks German,I was primarily aiming this at new members of the community but as you state even those of us that have been around for a while can forget to update our profiles as our circumstances change.
